2019: Preparation for the Renovation of the First Floor
In 2019, I found a Bauleiter to oversee the construction: finding companies, requesting quotes, and coordinating everything. That was a relief because it finally brought some movement to the project. However, it quickly became clear that obtaining quotes still took a lot of time. Many companies were too busy or unwilling to work in an old building with all the regulations.
In the meantime, I cautiously started preparing for the renovation of the first floor. No major steps yet, but at least a beginning. All rooms were cleared out, wallpaper was removed, and floors were taken out where the bathrooms would be. After that, a lot of plumbing and wiring was installed, including water pipes, electricity, and drainage.
By the end of the year, everything was prepared so that a company could start building the walls for the bathrooms and the partition walls between the apartments.
